Second Half Yellow Jacket Comeback Falls Short Against Lubbock Christian Sunday, November 3, 2024

The Black Hills State University women’s basketball team closed out their trip to the D2CCA Tipoff Classic on Sunday morning (11/3/24) with a hard-fought loss against perennial NCAA Division II contender Lubbock Christian, falling 73-66 to the Lady Chaparrals. The game was heard on KDSJ. LCU came out of the gates shooting lights out from beyond the arc, knocking down 6-of-8 3-pointers to get out to an early double digit lead in the first quarter and they extended it to as many as 17 points in the second quarter. The Yellow Jackets continued to fight back as they outscored Lubbock Christian 19-12 in the third quarter and the defense started to shut down the LCU offense as they held them without a point for just over five minutes of action from the third quarter into the fourth quarter. The final ten minutes of action saw BHSU close the gap down to as close as four points on two occasions, however the Lady Chaparrals closed out the win at the free throw line with 8-of-8 shooting in the final minute.
