Governor Kristi Noem is facing some criticism after a tweet calling South Dakota the number-one state for quality of early childhood education. Noem left out two other related rankings listed in the WalletHub study. The state ranks 23rd-overall in early education, coming 37th in access to pre-K programs and 41st in resources for economic support. Research on the state’s early education programs supports the WalletHub rankings. The site evaluated programs, funding, cost and other factors and scored the results based on weights for each to determine the rankings.
