UPDATE #2–
Police in Deadwood have released the name of the woman who died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound on a Deadwood dance floor.
Deadwood Police Chief Ken Mertens said the investigation continues into the death of 28-year-old Samantha Huth of Elsmere, Ky., following an autopsy conducted Monday, the results of which will not be back for at least one month.
Details are being withheld pending the completion of the investigation.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday, police responded to a report of a female down on the dance floor of 662 Main Street in Deadwood, the Buffalo Bodega Bar.
Life saving measures were administered to the woman, but she died at the scene.

Deadwood Police investigating the shooting death of a 28-year-old woman in downtown Deadwood on October 31 say preliminary information suggests that the fatal wound was self-inflicted.
Officials say the investigation is still active and ongoing.
ORIGINAL STORY–
A woman died overnight after being found with a gunshot wound in Deadwood.
According to Deadwood police, officers were dispatched at about 12:30 am Saturday, October 31, 2020 to the 660 block of Main Street-the Buffalo Bodega Gaming complex. A woman was reported “down on the dance floor,” says a release from the department.
Once officers arrived, they determined the woman had injuries from a gunshot. Lawrence County Ambulance arrived and paramedics began lifesaving measures but the woman was pronounced dead.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office is assisting the Deadwood Police Department with the active investigation. Officials say there is no threat to the community. Lead/Deadwood Ambulance and the Lawrence County Coroner are also assisting Deadwood Police Department with the investigation.
The victim’s identification is being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
