…HEAVY SNOW POSSIBLE FRIDAY NIGHT…

A potent winter storm system will bring accumulating snow to much of the area from tonight through Saturday morning. Due to southeasterly upslope winds, the highest snow totals will be located over parts of the central and southern Black Hills and the higher elevations of the adjacent foothills. Significant snow is also possible over parts of southwestern and south central South Dakota tonight through Saturday morning. The combination of snow and gusty winds will create difficult travel conditions.

…WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM MDT THIS EVENING TO NOON MDT SATURDAY…

* WHAT…Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches with the highest amounts toward the eastern slopes of the Black Hills.

* WHERE…The Northern Black Hills.

* WHEN…From 6 PM MDT this evening to noon MDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS…Travel could be very difficult.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected. This will create dangerous conditions.
